Vol. 262 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Office Space Cost.

33.

asked the Minister for Finance the average cost per square foot for office space in prime locations in Dublin; how this compares with similar costs in (a) London, (b) Brussels and (c) Paris; and if he will indicate the percentage increase in office space costs as compared with the cost in 1962.

The average cost per square foot for office space in prime locations in Dublin recently rented for State purposes is about £1.78 per annum. The comparable figure for Brussels is in the region of £2. I have not got precise information about rents in London and Paris but I am advised that they are considerably higher than those current in Dublin and Brussels. The increase in rents as compared with those obtaining eight or nine years ago is estimated to be of the order of 100 per cent.
