Vol. 262 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Industrial Estate.

54.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of the industrial estate in Waterford (1) the number of firms, other than firms which transferred from other premises, which have opened since the estate was established; (2) the number of adults employed fully in such new firms; (3) the number of firms which have closed; (4) the total amount invested in the estate up to 1st April, 1972; (5) the total value of exports from the estate in 1971; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been informed by the Industrial Development Authority that (1) a total of 16 new firms have commenced production since the estate was established; (2) a total of 488 people are now employed by these firms; (3) two of the 16 firms have ceased production; (4) the amount invested in the estate up to the 1st April, 1972, was £2.8 million. (5) As separate statistics are not compiled in respect of the volume of exports from the estate, I am not in a position to furnish the information requested.
