Written Answers. - Forestry Workers Redundancy and Retirement Payments.

196.

asked the Minister for Lands the number of redundancy payments and retirement payments since 1st January, 1970, in respect of forestry workers as follows: (a) redundancy payments (i) paid and (ii) under examination in accordance with the pension scheme, (b) redundancy lump sums (i) paid and (ii) awaiting payment in accordance with the Redundancy Payments Acts, (c) pensions (i) in payment and (ii) awaiting payment in accordance with the pension scheme, (d) gratuity (over ten years) (i) paid and (ii) awaiting payment in respect of retirement as distinct from redundancy in accordance with pension schemes and (e) gratuity (under ten years) (i) paid and (ii) awaiting payments under the Superannuation Acts.

The required information relating to the period since the 1st January, 1970 is as follows:

*Of the 57 cases awaiting payment 41 workers are in receipt of weekly payments under the Redundancy Acts and payment of pensions cannot commence until redundancy payments cease.
