Vol. 262 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North-East Dublin Education Needs.

61.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has received a request from a secondary school in north-east Dublin (name supplied) regarding the establishment of a non or multi-denominational community/comprehensive school to help serve the educational needs of that area; whether, if he has received such representations, he has replied to them; and, if so, the nature of his reply.

Such a request was made in March, 1971, and the school authorities were informed that my Department did not consider a school on these lines as a suitable base for development to cater for the needs of the area. That this view was correct was borne out at a subsequent meeting of the parents of the area who rejected the proposals contained in the request.
