asked the Taoiseach the rate of consumer spending on alcohol in this country compared with that of other countries.

asked the Taoiseach the annual per capita consumption of alcohol in this country compared with that of other countries.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 56 and 57 together.

Data on expenditure on alcoholic beverages are available for relatively few countries. A comparison with five other countries has been made. Data on a comparable basis are not available for consumption per capita of alcoholic beverages for other countries.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the available data.
