Vol. 263 No. 1

Written Answers. - Nuisance and Obstruction Problems.

454.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that local authorities are hampered by inadequate statutory authority in dealing with the growing problems of nuisance and obstruction caused by the repairing, paint spraying and servicing of motor vehicles on a commercial basis on the public roadway and particularly on public laneways at the rear of houses in Dublin; and if he will introduce legislation at an early date to deal effectively with the matter.

The provisions of the Road Traffic Acts enable the Garda Commissioner, acting in consultation with the local authority, to control the parking or leaving stationary of motor vehicles on roads for which a local authority is responsible, whether at specified parking places or elsewhere.
