Vol. 263 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Maternity Hospital.

8.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state his attitude in regard to the 25-bed Bedford Row maternity hospital at Limerick; its position vis-à-vis the 80-bed State maternity hospital at Limerick; and the future position of its staff.

This is a voluntary hospital and receives payments from the Mid-Western Health Board for eligible persons admitted to it. The board have recently sent me a proposal to provide direct financial support from public sources. I am considering this and will issue a decision as soon as possible.

The Bedford Row hospital has no direct connection with the Regional Maternity Hospital, which is administered by the health board.
