Vol. 263 No. 7

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 19 and 20 and in No. 20 Vote 42. If not already reached, it is proposed to interrupt business at 1 o'clock to take No. 20. Question will be taken at 2.30 p.m. I might say at this stage it is proposed that Questions will be taken for one hour, depending on the progress of No. 19.

Could I ask the Taoiseach why the all-party committee on Dáil reform has not met for approximately eight months and if the vital work of this committee is being discontinued?

The suggestion that the committee has not met for eight months is not correct.

When did it last meet?

I am not a member of the committee. The Deputy probably is and he ought to know.

The Deputy should ask his colleagues.

When did it meet?

It is completely wrong to say it did not meet for eight months. It met within the last three months. I will give the Deputy the date later on if he wishes.

I told the Ceann Comhairle yesterday that I would raise this matter. The bound volumes of the debate are three years——

It is not in order to raise that matter.

The Chair told me yesterday that I could raise it.

It is not in order now.

When can I raise it?

The Deputy can see me about this matter and I will explain fully why the delay has occurred. It is not a matter that can be raised on the Order of Business.

Why not? The bound volumes are three years out of date and anybody who wants to do serious research cannot do it.

There are many difficulties which I will explain to the Deputy. The questions that can be raised now are for the Taoiseach to answer, not the Ceann Comhairle.
