Vol. 263 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Estates.

22.

asked the Minister for Lands the up-to-date position regarding the Hughes estate, Dalgan, Milltown, County Galway.

25.

asked the Minister for Lands the position regarding the Martin Reilly estate, Russeltown, Milltown, County Galway.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 22 and 25 together.

The preparation of composite allotment proposals for the Reilly holding together with another small holding in the townland of Russeltown has been deferred pending the outcome of proceedings for the acquisition of the Hughes property in the townland of Dalgan, which proceedings are now at price stage. In the event of these latter lands being acquired a composite scheme of division will be prepared for the aggregate area. Otherwise the aim is to proceed with the disposal of the two holdings on hands as part of next year's allocation programme.

Can the Minister say when he expects the Hughes holding to come into the hands of the Land Commission?

As I have said, the proceedings are now at price stage.

So that the Land Commission will get it anyway?

From the confidential information I have here it would appear as if it will be possible to agree on a price but I cannot say exactly when.
