Vol. 263 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Teacher Training Schools.

31.

asked the Minister for Education the number of (a) graduates with BA degrees and (b) students with leaving certificate accepted into training schools for primary teachers this year.

The number of graduates with BA degrees accepted into the training colleges for primary teachers this year was 37 and the number of candidates accepted on the basis of leaving certificate results was 887.

Is it a fact that persons with the Bachelor of Arts degree and who may have studied psychology would have to undergo two years of training before they could teach in primary schools?

I am afraid the Deputy would have to give me notice of that question. I do not understand clearly what the Deputy means.
