asked the Minister for Health if he will indicate the reason for precluding payment of disablement allowances to wives of non-insured persons irrespective of their means or disability.
Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Disablement Allowances.
There is no disqualification either in the Health Acts or in the relevant regulations prohibiting the payment of a disabled person's maintenance allowance to the wife of a non-insured person.
Is the Minister aware that the Cork Health Authority do not pay a disabled person's allowance to the wife——
May I ask the Chair if Deputy Murphy is permitted to make a third speech during Question Time?
The Chair must hear the question the Deputy is putting.
Is the Minister not aware that a wife who is not deemed to be in gainful employment, irrespective of her incapacity, does not get a disabled person's allowance?
That is not so.
If the Minister says that is not so I will take that answer down to Cork.
I suspect the Deputy has already got that answer from Cork and has got unnecessary further mileage out of this case for the Skibbereen Eagle.
I am calling Question No. 3.
In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the Minister's replies to my questions I propose to raise them on the Adjournment.
The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.
