Vol. 263 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Housing.

85.

asked the Minister for Local Government if any plans have yet been adopted for the provision of housing in the City Quay area, Dublin; and if he will comment on the possibility of these plans being implemented at an early date.

Last May the city manager informed me that Dublin Corporation were satisfied that it would be possible to provide housing in the City Quay area, in conjunction with the redevelopment of the area as a whole; and that, on completion of the necessary studies, it was intended to prepare a compulsory purchase order for a considerable area east of Moss Street, with a view to comprehensive development which will include housing.

I understand that the referencing of the multiplicity of properties involved is proceeding as quickly as possible. Because of the quasi-judicial functions I am required to discharge in respect of compulsory acquisition proceedings, I am not in a position to make any comment, at this stage, on the possibility of the corporation's plans being implemented at an early date.
