Vol. 263 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Roscommon Road Problem.

143.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the heavy traffic and increase in accidents, he is aware that road fund grants are inadequate to meet the urgent road problem in County Roscommon; and if any additional funds will be made available as a matter of urgency.

I am satisfied that the allocation of grants totalling £423,457 to Roscommon County Council in the current year is reasonable. As the grants already allocated to the various road authorities, including Roscommon County Council, dispose of the whole of the expected income of the Road Fund for the current year, no increase in these amounts is possible.
