Vol. 264 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Death and Burial Grants.

25.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he is aware of the need to inform the public of the existence of death and burial grants; and if he will publicise full details in the matter.

When the schemes of death and burial grants were being introduced they were given the same publicity as is given to all other new schemes. Apart from that, information about the grants is given in leaflets provided by my Department as well as in the information booklet "Summary of Social Insurance and Assistance Services". Accordingly, it is not clear why the public should be less well-informed about these schemes than about others.
