Vol. 264 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Stray Dog Controls.

42.

asked the Minister for Justice whether his attention has been drawn to a report of the Committee of the Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on the control of stray dogs which at present constitute a health hazard; and whether any extra collection centres for stray dogs are under consideration.

Copies of a scheme proposing, inter alia, the setting up of collection centres for stray dogs were received recently in several Government Departments. I am having the proposals in the scheme examined in so far as they concern my Department.

When will the Minister himself be pulled in?

There will be a lot more dogs pulled in before I am.

Could the Minister say if any wayward foxes will be pulled in?

That is Deputy Cosgrave's problem, not mine.
