Vol. 264 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drink and Tobacco Tax Yields.

19.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of taxes collected in the last financial year or at the latest date from (a) alcoholic drink and (b) tobacco and cigarettes.

The net receipts, for the financial year ended 31st March, 1972, from customs and excise duties on alcoholic drink and tobacco—including cigarettes—were £68.56 million and £53.29 million, respectively. These figures do not include receipts from turnover tax as separate figures for receipts from this tax are not available for the commodities mentioned.
