Vol. 265 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois-Offaly Housing

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government why there is such a long delay in housing inspections in Counties Offaly and Laois.

There has been some increase in recent months in the time taken to carry out housing grant inspections in Counties Offaly and Laois. This is due mainly to the sharp increase in the number of new house grant applications being processed.

I am having the position about delays examined as a matter of urgency. In the meantime, a further competition is being arranged to recruit extra inspectors to cope with the increased work loads.

I will examine any particular cases in which the Deputy may consider that undue delay has occurred.
