Vol. 265 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Dumping Problem.

70.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the serious health hazard to which the people of Shrewsbury Lawn extension County Dublin are exposed, arising out of the dumping problem near their estate; and the action he intends taking in the matter.

I presume the Deputy is referring to dumping at Kilbogget tiphead which is under the control and management of Dublin County Council.

The provision and maintenance of refuse dumps are the responsibility of the local sanitary authority and I have no function in the matter. However, I am advised by the council that the chief medical officer is satisfied that the council's operations at the tiphead do not constitute a health hazard.
