Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Industrialisation.

33.

Mr. Kitt

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when it is proposed to have the advance factories sanctioned for (a) Mountbellew and (b) Ballygar, County Galway erected.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that negotiations for the purchase of industrial sites in Mountbellew and Ballygar have been completed subject to the formal approval of Galway County Council.

In the case of Mountbellew, the IDA intend to proceed with the contract arrangements for construction of the advance factory as soon as the site acquisition procedures are finalised.

In regard to Ballygar, a new industrial project has recently commenced operations in the town in temporary accommodation. The IDA have agreed to provide a factory to the company's requirements on the industrial site now being acquired in Ballygar. Construction work will commence when the existing project reaches the level of production which will warrant the building of the factory premises.

34.

Mr. Kitt

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the proposals the Industrial Development Authority have for the town of Athenry, County Galway.

The Industrial Development Authority have recently approved a grant for a new industry for the town. Pending the completion of certain details, however, I am not in a position to furnish particulars of the project. The IDA also have applications before them for grants involving two small-scale projects.
