Vol. 265 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Industries.

36.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there is an application for a grant from the IDA by a firm which intends to start a factory in Ardfinnan, County Tipperary; and, if so, when the application was made and when the grant will be approved.

37.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of industries which inquired about establishment in the two designated areas of County Tipperary; and if any of these industries will be established there.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 36 and 37 together.

The Industrial Development Authority are at present dealing with 11 inquiries from promoters interested in establishing manufacturing projects in the designated areas in question. Apart from two projects, one for each area, it is not possible to indicate at this stage what the outcome of these negotiations will be. Of the two projects, details of one for Ardfinnan have now been announced by the IDA and it is hoped to publish particulars of the other for Ballingarry in the near future.

Mr. Kitt

Can the Minister say when the application for grant was made to the IDA by the firm which propose setting up in Ardfinnan?

I have not that information with me but if the Deputy tables the question, I shall answer it.

That was the question asked by the Deputy.

I am sorry. The answer is the one I have given but I realise that it does not answer the question. If the Deputy tables the question again I shall answer it straight away.
