Vol. 265 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Primary School Education.

4.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that, in view of the influx of new families into Ballybrack, County Dublin, there is urgent need for additional primary school places; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Mr. R. Burke

I am aware of the need for additional primary school accommodation in the Ballybrack area. Proposals have been approved by my Department and arrangements are well in train for the erection in the Ballybrack and Killiney area of three new schools which will provide for a total enrolment of about 1,000 pupils.

8.

asked the Minister for Education the provisions which have been made for primary education for the children who have come to reside in the Tolka Valley area of West Finglas, Dublin.

Mr. R. Burke

Two primary schools for about 1,300 children will be required in the Tolka Valley area of Finglas. Plans have been prepared and approved for the first of these schools and a grant has been sanctioned towards the cost of erecting the building.

Pending the completion of that school the existing schools in Finglas can cater for the children from the new area.
