asked the Minister for Finance if he will furnish in the form of a reply of 20th July, 1971, details of rates of wages, etc., of employees of the Office of Public Works and indicate the amount of pay increase granted in January, 1973.

(i) These rates are exclusive of incentive bonus which operates on the Boyne Scheme.

(ii) The normal working week is 41 hours for all grades except tradesmen and boy labourers who work a 40 hour week.

(iii) All the grades listed above except tradesmen received the increases provided for in the Second Phase of the Employer/Labourer National Agreement, 1970 (13th round) from 1st January, 1973. Boy labourers received half of the weekly increase of adult labourers and watchmen an hourly increase proportionate to that of labourers.

(iv) For tradesmen the terms of the First Phase of the 1972 National Agreement (14th round) apply from 1st July, 1972 viz. an increase of £2.50 a week from that date, with a further increase of 10p a week from 1st January, 1973.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state in the form of a reply of 20th July, 1971, the basic rates of pay of non-craftsmen employees and tractor drivers employed by his Department at experimental stations and the amount of pay increase granted in January, 1973.

Service Pay

All employees in the above grades qualify for service pay at the rate of £0.25, £0.50, £0.75 and £1 weekly after 5, 10, 15 and 20 years' service respectively.

Notes: (a) A labourer at Backweston who attends part-time on heating boilers receives a weekly allowance of £4.50.

(b) The Engineman at the Munster Institute receives an additional weekly allowance of £0.75 during the heating season.
