Financial Resolutions, 1973-74. - Financial Resolution No. 6: Death Duties.

(1) That in the case of any person dying on or after the 16th day of May, 1973—
(a) any legacy or succession duty which would have been payable under his will or intestacy at the rate of 5 per cent if he had died before the date shall be payable at the rate of 10 per cent, and
(b) any legacy or succession duty which would have been payable under his will or intestacy at the rate of 10 per cent if he had died before that date shall be payable at the rate of 20 per cent.
on the amount or value of the legacy or succession.
(2) That in the case of any succession conferred on or after the 16th day of May, 1973,—
(a) any succession duty which would have been payable at the rate of 5 per cent if it had been conferred before that date shall be payable at the rate of 10 per cent. and
(b) any succession duty which would have been payable at the rate of 10 per cent if it had been conferred before that date shall be payable at the rate of 20 per cent,
on the amount or value of the succession.
(3) It is hereby declared that it is expedient in the public interest that this resolution shall have statutory effect under the provisions of the Provisional Collection of Taxes Act, 1927 (No. 7 of 1927).
