Vol. 266 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pedigree Boar Prices.

17.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he has seen reports to the effect that Cork County Committee of Agriculture cannot increase the price they are paying for pedigree boars as this is controlled from Brussels; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have seen a report on the lines referred to. I have had under consideration the impact of prevailing prices for boars on the premium boar scheme and a communication has been issued to the county committee of agriculture in the matter. I may add that no control is exercised from Brussels on the prices paid for pedigree boars.

I arranged a delegation for both those Deputies to meet the Minister last Thursday. I see no need for or sense in those questions.

I am afraid the Deputy must ask a specific supplementary question rather than make a statement.
