Vol. 266 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Incentive Schemes.

23.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he considers that the midland counties of Offaly, Laois, Longford and Westmeath are sufficiently and satisfactorily catered for under industrial incentive schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied that the wide range of industrial development incentives available is sufficient to achieve the desired rate of industrial growth in the counties mentioned.

The Industrial Development Authority in its regional industrial plans for the years 1973-77 is committed to creating a real increase in manufacturing employment in these counties of 2,300 jobs.

Already, substantial progress has been made towards these targets, particularly in Counties Laois and Westmeath.
