Vol. 266 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sodium Chlorate Compensation.

36.

asked the Minister for Justice when it is proposed to pay moneys due to shopkeepers throughout the country for the sodium chlorate which was confiscated.

(Cavan): The bulk of the compensation due in respect of stocks of sodium chlorate and ammonium nitrate has already been paid. There has, however, been a delay in paying out in a small number of cases because of difficulties in reconciling the claims with departmental records. In addition, some traders have so far not submitted claims, presumably because the quantities involved are so small as not to be worth bothering about. If the Deputy knows of any traders who are seeking compensation and have not so far submitted claims perhaps he would ask them to get in touch with my Department and the matter will receive immediate attenion.
