Vol. 267 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Baler Twine Price.

28.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce why the price of baler twine was increased by £60 per ton this year.

The increase in the price of baler twine for the 1973 season as compared with the 1972 season, is due entirely to increased world prices for sisal, the basic raw material involved in the manufacture of baler twine.

Before the Minister granted that increase were all aspects of cost taken into account?

I understand that the National Prices Commission looked carefully at the matter of cost and that they passed on the cost of the raw material which was necessary to fabricate the binder twine but not any other costs.
