The position regarding the publication of a development programme is being considered in the light of such factors as the policies of the National Coalition Government over a wide field of activity, the disappointing out-turn of the Third Programme, present and prospective price changes, and the likely social and structural developments resulting from membership of the EEC. It will take some months to complete this examination but it is hoped to publish a document before the end of the year.
It is clear that the period to be covered will have to be reconsidered. One possibility that is being examined is that the document will cover the period from 1974 to 1977, that is, up to the end of the EEC transitional period.
