asked the Minister for Lands why the English estate at Barley Hill and Ardagh, County Meath was not acquired by the Land Commission for division among uneconomic holders in the area.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Estate.
47.
(Cavan): These lands have been under review by the Land Commission since 1969 but due to the personal circumstances of the former owner no action was taken towards acquisition. The Land Commission have now decided to carry out an inspection of the holding and the requisite notice under the Land Act, 1965, was served on the owner earlier this month. Until such time as the inspection has been completed it is not possible to indicate what action may follow.
Is the Minister aware that the Land Commission inspector informed the small farmers convenient to that estate in that area that the land would be acquired on the death of Mr. English?
(Cavan): I am not so aware.
That seems to be the position.
