Vol. 267 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ore Exports.

59.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the total value of exports of metal ores and concentrates during the period 1965-71; and the value of the relevant royalties accruing to the State.

The total value of exports of metal ores and concentrates during the period 1965-1971 was £67.5 million.

Details of the receipts, including royalties, under the Minerals Development Act, 1940 and 1960 are contained in the six-monthly reports laid before the Oireachtas in accordance with the requirements of these Acts.

Total receipts in respect of minerals other than petroleum for the period 1965-1971 amounted to £1.7 million. Royalties accruing from the working of State owned base metal minerals in 1971 were, in fact, paid in 1972 as under the terms of State mining leases governing the working of base metals, royalties in any one year do not fall due for payment until the middle of the following year. Total receipts for 1972 amounted to £125,933. There may be some adjustment in these figures when profits in certain cases are finally assessed by the Revenue Commissioners.
