asked the Minister for Defence the number of prisoners, other than those convicted under the Offences Against the State Acts, at present under detention at the Curragh Camp.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of prisoners being detained at the Curragh Camp who have been convicted under the Offences Against the State Acts.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 100 and 101 together.

The number of civilian prisoners held in military custody is 36. All of them are convicted prisoners serving sentences imposed by the courts. Three of them were convicted of offences under the Offences Against the State Acts.
