Vol. 267 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Busways.

77.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will agree to provide busways to any urban shopping centres.

It is accepted that an important part of urban transportation policy is the development of measures designed to raise the level of public transport services. Such measures may include the provision of busways, bus lanes and priority for buses at intersections. Decisions on any specific proposal to provide a busway would be a matter for the road authority in the area concerned.
