Vol. 267 No. 12

Written Answers. - EEC Regional Policy.

271.

asked the Minister for Finance the internal measures taken and those which will be taken by his Department to ensure that Ireland will be ready to take full advantage of the opportunities which the EEC regional policy will offer.

Since it is not yet clear what precise form Community regional policy will take, following decisions on the proposals for the development of that policy which the Commission was invited to put forward by the Paris Summit, it is not possible at this stage to decide what measures will be necessary to draw maximum benefit from that policy. The Deputy may rest assured, however, that the Government are keeping in very close touch with developments, and that any necessary measures will be taken immediately the opportunity arises.
