Vol. 267 No. 13

Private Business. - Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6. I understand that by agreement it is proposed the House should break for an hour between 1.30 and 2.30 p.m., and on the conclusion of business today the House will rise until 17th October.

I should like to inform the House that under Standing Orders, as questions cannot be taken today and as this is the last day of the session outstanding questions will in the usual way be given written answers in the Official Report for yesterday.

Will there be an Adjournment Debate and how long will it take?

Could I not suggest to the Taoiseach that it is a rather ridiculous situation that the House is prepared to sit for an indefinite number of hours to discuss its own remuneration but will not take an Adjournment Debate?

The Deputy understands that it was arranged that the House would adjourn today. The remaining items of business are the Finance Bill and the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Bill. It is hoped to conclude both of these today.

The Deputy fully understands.
