The amount per head depends on the weight and value of each beast. Custom duties, accession compensatory amounts or monetary compensatory export charges do not apply to trade between Ireland and the UK.
In addition to the above, monetary compensatory import charges at present apply to imports of Irish and British cattle to the Community countries as indicated below. These amounts are designed to negative the effects of currency changes. In the case of Italy, the monetary compensatory amount takes the form of an import subsidy.
