Vol. 268 No. 4

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 4 and 5 (Votes 27 to 33, inclusive).

I want to raise the subject matter of Question No. 75 of Thursday, 18th October. You, Sir, promised that you would communicate with me when I asked to have the subject matter raised on the Adjournment. I want to express my displeasure that I did not hear from the Ceann Comhairle.

The Deputy may not make a statement on this matter. Is he requesting permission to raise the subject matter of the question——

I have done so already and according to the Official Report of that date you said: "The Chair will communicate with the Deputy." I want to point out that promise was not honoured.

The Deputy was informed by my office that he must give notice before 3.30 p.m. on a Thursday in order to raise a matter on the Adjournment.

A Cheann Comhairle, just to be correct——

I cannot allow the Deputy to argue with the Chair in the matter.

In the interests of justice——

The Chair discussed the matter with the Deputy personally yesterday and advised him on how he might raise the matter today. It is most inconsiderate of the Deputy to behave in this manner.

I beg your pardon. I approached you, a Cheann Comhairle, although you had stated——

The Deputy may not argue with the Chair.

The first approach was made by the Deputy?

I made the approach to the Ceann Comhairle.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.
