Vol. 268 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abandoned Cars Removal.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the fact that a local authority is empowered to remove to a car pound without notice any car parked on double yellow lines, he will consider extending the same powers to permit removal of seemingly abandoned cars.

The powers of local authorities under the Road Traffic (Removal, Storage and Disposal of Vehicles) Regulations, 1971 to remove, store and dispose of unlawfully parked vehicles apply equally to vehicles which have been, or appear to have been, abandoned on a public road or in a public car park.
