Vol. 268 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Land Application.

12.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a person in County Cork (details supplied), who is a small farmer in receipt of unemployment assistance, has made application to the forestry section of his Department for a portion of arable land recently acquired for afforestation and that he has been refused; and if he will have this case examined with a view to allocating this portion of land to the person concerned.

The arable land referred to was used by the Forest and Wildlife Service of my Department to effect exchanges with local farmers for forestry type lands which afford access to another forest property nearby. Contracts have been entered into with two local landholders for such exchanges. Accordingly the arable land is not available for disposal.
