Vol. 268 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Classes.

25.

asked the Minister for Education why he has no particulars of the number of students enrolled in evening Gaeilge classes organised by vocational committees.

The statistical information which the Deputy requested in the question in this matter already submitted by him on Wednesday, 7th November is now available and is as follows: 1972-73—1,970; 1973-74— 1,418 enrolments to date. It may be that further classes may yet be commenced in 1973-4.

May I point out that the question asked was why the Minister had not the particulars? While he has given particulars now, I do not think he has answered the question.

Mr. R. Burke

It is simply that I have now the details for the Deputy and I am giving them to him.

The question seemed to be why the Minister did not have the particulars.

Mr. R. Burke

It is because we were not asked the question before. We found the information and we are now giving it to the Deputy.
