Vol. 268 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Adult Education Report.

31.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the delay in deciding to implement the recommendations of the Murphy Report on Adult Education, he will select pilot areas recommended by this report and if he will consider County Wexford as one such area.

Mr. R. Burke

The interim report of the advisory committee appointed to carry out a survey in relation to adult education needs was issued in October, 1970 in the hope that it would excite interest and comment which in turn could be fed into the deliberations on the final report. Work on the survey to lead to the final report was resumed in January, 1971.

I expect that the final report of the committee will be presented to me in the very near future. When it is received, the recommendations made therein will receive early and full consideration. I am not, however, in a position to anticipate what these final recommendations may be.
