Vol. 269 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - VHI Treatment Units.

20.

asked the Minister for Health if he considers that the minimum number of treatment units recommended by the Voluntary Health Insurance Board are adequate.

As I intimated in reply to a similar question from the Deputy on the 2nd May last, the minimum number of treatment units recommended to subscribers by the Voluntary Health Insurance Board is based on the current level of medical and surgical fees submitted with claims received by the board. Accordingly, the board's minimum recommendations provide adequate cover in the vast majority of cases.
