Vol. 269 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ointment Regulations.

23.

asked the Minister for Health if he will lay down regulations regarding ointments containing fluorinated steroids which may present a health hazard.

As I indicated in my reply to the Deputy's question on 10th May, 1973, Comhairle na Nimheanna, established under the Poisons Act, 1961, is considering the question of the substances which it is advisable to restrict to sale on prescription, and these include the preparations referred to in the question.

An Comhairle has made considerable progress in the matter and I expect to receive its recommendations in the near future.

Many of my questions are repeats of questions I asked six months ago. The Minister said that considerable progress had been made. We have gone no further in the matter, I take it?

It is not a question of the Minister not going further. This matter was referred to the Poisons Council and I am awaiting their report.

Will the Minister take action to see that they bring out the report quickly?

I will not rush them. I will try to make sure they will have a good report.
