Vol. 269 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Medical Cards.

4.

asked the Minister for Health the number of medical cards withdrawn since March, 1973; and the number of new cards issued.

The number of medical cards withdrawn in the period April to September last was 16,399, and during the same period the total number of medical cards extant increased by 37,633.

The Minister stated the total number of cards. Are these new issues or are they the total number issued?

I said that in the period April to September last the total number of medical cards increased by 37,633.

Thank you.

Can the Minister state if any steps have been taken to provide uniform criteria for the granting of cards?

That is a separate question.

As the Deputy must know, unless he has not got a copy of them, the guidelines are pretty uniform now. There will be a review in January next.
