Vol. 269 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: No. 4 (Votes 27 to 33, resumed), Vote 37 (Resumed) and Vote 38. Questions will be taken at 2.30 p.m. It is proposed to allow a three-hour debate from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on next Tuesday on the current oil situation. I understand that the Minister for Transport and Power is putting down an appropriate motion and the allocation of time for speakers will be discussed between the Whips.

If Questions are finished before 4 p.m. will the debate still take place immediately after Question Time?

And continue until 7 p.m.?

It takes place on Tuesday next and is a three-hour debate.

It may not be 7 p.m. It may be sooner.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary in a position to make any statement on when it is proposed to rise for the Christmas Recess?

There is no decision about when the House will rise. It will depend on the state of the business.

Since it is now the practice to sit on Church holidays would the Parliamentary Secretary propose to sit on Christmas Day?

I will give no undertaking.
