Vol. 269 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Death Grant.

20.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has any proposals to increase the death grant payable under the Social Welfare Acts.

The question of further improvements in the social welfare services, including that mentioned by the Deputy, is a matter which will be considered in connection with the next budget.

Would the Minister not agree that an increase should be given immediately because three months ago there was a 16 per cent increase in the price of coffins and I understand another 20 per cent increase is now imminent?

I am calling Question No. 21.
