This is the 12th February, 1974, and it states in the brief I have here that construction work on the new pier at Moville has just begun.

Now that the work has just begun on this long-awaited structure at Moville, is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that part of the information furnished, probably by his foreman or man in charge there, a week or a fortnight ago indicated that, in order to have this work done, part of the old stone pier anchorage will have to be filled in permanently and that this will wipe out the slipping facilities that are available——
This seems to be a separate matter.
It is totally connected.
The question asks when the work will commence.

In order to do the job that has now begun it is proposed, according to the information of one of your officers, that the old pier anchorage which is the other side of the headland be filled in in order to enable the workmen to work on the new one and, by so doing, the slipping facilities available will completely disappear and this would be a disaster?
This is a separate matter.
It is not; it is involved in the work which has just begun.
