Vol. 270 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Beef and Cattle Exports Compensation.

9.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the amounts of monetary compensation paid by this country on exports of (a) carcase beef and (b) other cattle exports.

Monetary compensatory payments by this country only applied to our trade with Italy up to 15th January, 1974. These payments were in respect of the difference between the Italian monetary import subsidy and the Irish monetary export charge and represented a net subsidy on our exports. The total amount involved is approximately £500,000 of which £416,000 was for beef and £84,000 for live cattle.

10.
