Vol. 270 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Estates.

37.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Molloy estate (details supplied) in County Offaly has been acquired.

(Cavan): The acquisition of these lands has not yet been completed by the Land Commission.

As I said in reply to a previous Question (No. 20) on 23rd October, 1973, the Land Commission have been endeavouring to complete the purchase of the property on a voluntary basis for some time. However, it has not been possible to bring the case to finality and at present the Land Commission are taking legal advice as to their position in the matter.

38.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission will acquire the Dooley estate, Clonoghill Upper, Birr, County Offaly.

(Cavan): I take it that the Deputy is referring to the holding of Andrew Dooley at Clonoghill Lower.

The Land Commission hope to obtain possession of this holding pursuant to an exchange transaction later this year.

39.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Reid estate, County Offaly, will be divided this spring.

(Cavan): Proposals for the allotment of the holding referred to are at present being formulated and every effort will be made to have the lands allotted this spring. However, if this does not prove possible, the lands will be included in next year's allotment programme.
