Vol. 270 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nuclear Station.

75.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will ensure that in the development of a nuclear station consideration will be given to (a) the protection of workers, the public and the environment (b) the safety of the installations (c) the evaluation of the net risk/benefit to man and his environment from the use of nuclear energy (d) the introduction of harmonised legislation and regulations in respect of nuclear activities and (e) the dissemination amongst the public of an improved knowledge of the various aspects of nuclear development.

Yes. I would refer the Deputy to the Nuclear Energy Act, 1971, which makes provision in relation to the matters referred to in the question.

Did the cost of the answer to my detailed question exceed 25p?

I would venture to say yes.

It is alleged that the answer to a question costs £150.

If the Deputy cares to put down a question I will find out the cost of that answer.
