Vol. 270 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Industry.

24.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will indicate the liaison, if any, that exists between Aer Lingus, Córas Iompair Éireann, B & I and Bord Fáilte in the pursuance of business in the interest of the Irish tourist industry.

All the bodies mentioned by the Deputy work in close co-operation in areas of common interest including joint advertising, sharing of offices abroad, joint promotional campaigns, joint film production, joint handling of press, radio and television units' visits, co-operation in travel workshops and in the setting up of inclusive holiday offers. There are contacts on tourism matters almost daily, at varying levels of responsibility between Bord Fáilte and the other organisations. Moreover, all are members of the National Tourism Council which was founded in 1970 for the purpose of collecting, discussing and exchanging information on tourism and developing understanding and co-operation between all interests in the tourist industry.
